This little guy was not so little when he came into this world! Well over 9 pounds! Baby N was absolutely perfect. Slept like a dream and did everything I asked : ) His sister was one of my first subjects newborns. His mom, D, and I had a good laugh over the holiday pictures I took of his sister when she was about six months old. Luckily, everything is a learning experience, right?!

I’m sharing the video I put together for the G Family. This is the video that comes with my digital package – it comes iPod sized, sized for a computer screen and also as a high-quality DVD.

The best part of my job is getting to meet great families. The S family was one of those families – nice, funny, and gorgeous! They found me through two friends of mine from completely different corners of my life. They just both happen to know J’s mom, M. I love when worlds collide! Little J is such a sweet guy, he is one of those watchful little guys who wants to see everything that’s going on. He had the most adorable little baby legs you’ve ever seen. You could just see the love in this family, M and E just couldn’t stop snuggling their little guy.

It has been way too long since I dragged my camera around capturing my girls’ every move. With little Miss L at 2 1/2, she usually requires my full attention. But, I am hanging out at my mom’s for a few days and the girls would way rather Nana and Papa take care of their whims than mommy. So, I get to take pictures! I’m thrilled that I finally got a few that I love of L, she is usually running away from the camera.

I love that G and L get the best of both worlds. They are city kids with a Nana and Papa who live on a farm – and a real one at that – hogs, smells, bugs, snakes, tractors and combines. G is going through a little phase where she is terrified of the littlest bug and almost incoherent at big bugs or flying bugs. So, she hasn’t been outside much : ) Plus, it is about a million degrees in central Illinois. But, she was brave today and went swimming in the hot tub for awhile (no swim vest, daddy!), picked strawberries with her sister and did all kinds of other fun things. Papa drove the combine up to the mulberry tree so G could reach and L had so much fun in the strawberry patch pretending to take calls on her cell phone. We saw a big snake sunning itself and all in all, the bugs stayed pretty far away. I think maybe G forgot to be afraid for a little while. It was sweltering. The girls had sweaty, hot faces. But, they had a blast and we got fresh peas, strawberries, mulberries and carrots with dinner.

For all of you with summer sessions, you know how I’m always trying to convince you to do our sessions early in the morning or late, late afternoon? Check out the beautiful light in these images and you’ll see why!

fun in the park . . . adorable little girls . . . {sneak peek}

Maybe it’s because they are roughly the ages of my girls or maybe it’s because mom and dad were both there and couldn’t have been nicer, but this was one of my favorite sessions. It was a little chillier than we would have liked and the sun was bearing down on us just a bit too brightly, but absolutely nothing can take away from how cute these two are. Mom brought so many fun outfits and we had some twirling in pettiskirts, too!

You can’t really see too many details in little H’s dress, but mom made it. In real life, it is gorgeous (and amazing, especially if you have no idea how to sew!). For all you moms out there trying to figure out how to dress your kids for pictures, B did a great job. She had fun outfits and sweet outfits and all seemed to reflect the personality of her girls. Their outfits coordinate, but aren’t matchy-matchy.

As many of you know, I was excitedly looking forward to a photography workshop this week given by the awesome Amy Wenzel. While we were at the workshop mixer Sunday night, Amy received some very life-altering news. Her husband, David, was traveling in San Francisco. He was goofing around and fell and injured his head. He thought he’d suffered a slight concussion, but the next day he had a seizure and was admitted to the hospital. While there and doing the scans related to his head injury, they found a brain tumor. You can read all about it here. They said if he hadn’t fallen, he probably wouldn’t have found the tumor for several years and at that point, it might have been too late. Amy, of course, immediately canceled the workshop and flew to California to be with her husband. It sounds like they will be traveling to Minnesota so that David can have brain surgery at the Mayo Clinic. Please keep them in your thoughts and prayers.

I had planned on posting several sneak peeks while I was there basking in the aloneness of my hotel room (read no little girls saying “mommy” every two seconds). Instead, I spent yesterday with the other workshop attendees figuring out our options and then, driving home. My wonderful in-laws are keeping the girls as planned, so I have two glorious days to catch up and will be posting later today.

Hug your loved ones extra tight today, you never know when life will turn your world upside down.

waiting on sister . . . {sneak peek}

I’m doubling up on family posts tonight. My sister is due to have baby #3 in July. The big joke in my family is that I take a billion pictures, but they go into some kind of black hole once they leave my camera. One of my gifts to my sister for this pregnancy is that I plan on prioritizing her pictures like she is my biggest client. Get ready for lots of newborn posts in July because this little girl is going to be so much fun for me to practice new things on. I only live about 5 minutes from my sister, so I’m already planning on setting up a little mini-studio at their house and running over there every time she tells me the baby’s sleeping! Sister, look at those gorgeous kids of yours. G wants every single picture of M to plaster her walls. Isn’t cousin love wonderful??

Adorable Miss A and Her Family

I had such a nice time with Miss A and her family. We went down to the lake to get a few and then, came back and hung around their house for a few. She had about the most adorable little legs I’ve ever seen and I have some serious eyelash envy. And, at 11 months, she was such a trooper. There are so many images I love, I had a hard time deciding. J and B, enjoy your sneak peek. I can’t wait to share the rest with you!

As you can tell, I’ve been working hard at revising the look of my blog. You’ll soon see some of the same changes on my website. Maybe it’s springtime looming not too far away, but I just really wanted to lighten things up! I still have some work to do, but I’m getting there. Feel free to leave me feedback by commenting. Oh my goodness, it’s been way, way too long since I’ve posted. I’ll be playing a little catch up over the next week or so to show you what I’ve been up to! Also, expect to see some changes to the look and feel of my website and blog over the next few weeks as I make things even prettier.

So, on with the good stuff. I was lucky enough to get to take pictures of this wonderful mama-to-be expecting her first baby. She’s surprising daddy-to-be with pictures of her adorable belly – how sweet is that? S lives close to the Lake and Lincoln Park and wanted to get some shots of their favorite places. One problem, it was FREEZING! S was such a trooper. Did I mention, it was FREEZING! S, hope you’re hanging in there!
